Preparing Your Computer
Because you will need to interact with the host computer, by finding and sending the correct files, it is best to setup by your computer exactly in the manner outlined below:

1. Name the folder that all your PracticeMaker™ files are in PracticeMaker. This make technical support easier!
2. Inside the PracticeMaker folder create a folder called Zterm. In this folder place all Zterm files and program components.
3. Create another folder inside the PracticeMaker folder called Received Files. When you first receive a file using Zterm it will ask which is the “Receive” folder. This is the folder you want to select so that all files you receive will be placed here. Open this folder and from the View menu select by Date. This way the most recently received file is listed first!
Preparing to send a file
Once you have created and named your NSF file (i.e. iowa.txt) it is time to send it to ISYS for processing. ISYS uses a Unix type system. Zterm emulates a VT100 terminal for connecting and communicating with the Unix host computer. Using Zterm’s scripting language, we have setup up Zterm to respond to all (well, most) of the host computer’s “prompts”. At the appropriate time you will have to manually find and send the upload file you created.

It is not necessary to quit PracticeMaker™ in order to send a file. Just select Hide FileMaker Pro from the Finder menu (located at the upper right hand corner of your Macintosh screen), find then double click on Zterm. In the example shown here, Zterm and Word 6 are already running!
Before actually signing on please review the next several pages!

On the next few pages is an actual log-on session with ISYS.
· Bold print identifies “prompts” that you would need to respond to if you weren’t using Zterm’s preprogrammed setup.
· Bold Italic print is Zterm’s programmed response to those prompts!
· Printing on parentheses and bold (for your information) is added by us for your information!
If you elect not to use Zterm, and use another modem program, you we will to respond to these prompts manually by typing in the correct response!

This is point in the transmission when you, the user, have to interact with the software to find and transmit your file. On the next few pages you will learn how to do just that!
Dialing the ISYS Computer
Zterm is a rather straight forward modem program. You should be able to master it very quickly. To dial ISYS do the following:
1. Make sure your modem is properly connected to the modem port and turned on.
2. Double click on the Zterm icon (which is in the Zterm folder you already created)
3. If the modem is properly connected you will see ATE1 V1 OK when Zterm’s screen first appears.
4. Select Iowa from the Dial menu. When the host computer answers your call, Zterm takes over and answers all prompts as you saw above!
NOTE: If it ever appears that the host computer is not responding press [enter]. Zterm is programmed to respond to all commands in its script until the script is completed OR halted by you (by holding down the key and pressing period). If for some reason the script is interrupted you can follow the screen shots and enter the response by hand.
Finding and Sending the correct file
When you are asked by ISYS to Please start the transmission on your system now (as you were shown above) this is exactly what you need to do!
· From the File menu (left above) select Send Zmodem or press -S.
· At the middle dialog above, find the file you want to send. It will be in the PracticeMaker folder. You may need to do some navigating through the folder menu located above the scrolling list. Double click on the file to send (in this case iowa.txt) then click the Start button.
· The host computer will then start the receiving process and you will see the dialog above left.
Below is the actual screen capture you will see when you file is complete!

When the process is complete you will have the opportunity to download or read the file that confirms that you sent this file. The following pages show you the actual log-on session of this interaction for you to follow.
If at this point you want to quit your connection (log-off), press Q at each prompt (see the section below). If you want to force Zterm to hang up press -H and confirm your action that the dialog.
Signing off ISYS
To log off at any time type “Q” and press [enter] at each prompt until you log off. The final menu you get before “logging off” is shown here.

Receiving your confirmation
After you have uploaded your file to ISYS you can get an immediate confirmation that the file was indeed received. This confirmation tells you only that the file was received and the size of the file. This confirmation can be viewed on screen (preferred method) or downloaded for later printing.
To view or download the confirmation you need to get to the ECMS MENU. To get there immediately after you have uploaded, type “Q” at the prompt shown above (UPLOAD BATCH MENU) and the menu below appears because it was the previous menu! Simply follow these actual screen shots for directions!

Downloading a report from ISYS
One hour after you have uploaded your file to ISYS you can download a report that tells you if the file was accepted on rejected. This report stays in the system for only a few days.
